This is the BEST THING EVER. During my new move and subsequent purchase of a new vehicle after the move, I've been to the Mobile Tax Commissioner's office EIGHT TIMES. It was so very nice to be able to complete the registration online.
This was so much better than having to go to the DMV!!!

In order to proceed with EasyTag, you must have the following:
You will need to provide individual scans (or a picture) of all of these documents. This page has been optimized for use on mobile devices and you can take a picture of each required document during the process.
If this is the first vehicle you've registered in Shelby County, you will need to provide proof of residency. Any of the following are acceptable documents:
The EasyTag service fee will be due today once we've obtained all of your information. This fee is not charged by the County, rather it is charged by the third party provider of this service (Ingenuity, Inc - an Alabama Company) in agreement and cooperation with the county licensing offices. The fee charged is used to pay for our customer support team which visually verifies every registration and uploaded document for correctness and completeness prior to submitting the information to your county to ensure a smooth process. The fee also funds the development, maintenance, enhancement and expansion of offerings of this service.
If for any reason your EasyTag registration cannot be completed and you have to register in-person, a full refund of the service fee will be issued to you upon request.

If your drivers license is expired, you will need to renew before you can continue. This can be done Online Here
You can find this information on your insurance card. The NAIC number is a 5-digit number that specifies the insurance company. In order for this information to be validated, you must have already added your new car to this policy.
If you are not trading a vehicle in and need to get a new tag, click "I Need A New Tag" or "I Need A New Personalized Tag". If you are trading a vehicle in and the tag from that vehicle hasn't expired, click "I Will Transfer My Tag".

IMPORTANT - VERIFY NAME ON BOTH VEHICLES BELOW
Check here if your name is listed on both the registration of the old vehicle and your new vehicle's title. NOTE: If the County cannot verify your ownership of both vehicles, your EasyTag registration will be rejected and you will have to register in person.
Upload a scan or take a picture of each document. Please ensure that the Title Application is signed by both you and the dealership! We'll check each image for legibility before proceeding.
IMPORTANT! Per Alabama law, the Bill of Sale must show a breakdown of State, County, and City sales taxes collected by the seller. If your uploaded document or picture doesn't clearly show this, it will be rejected and your application will be delayed.

Please verify and update your mailing address. Your zip code is all we need to know your City and State.
Your registration fees and taxes will be due once the county processes your registration. If, for any reason, your EasyTag registration cannot be processed and you have to register in person, we will refund your full EasyTag fee. Check your email for updates.
